BBQ Fest, first trip to Target and a great visit from Grandma...

This is Grandma Pat writing for Rowyn as she celebrates her 6 month birthday today!  I have been watching her for two weeks, so I feel free to interpret her little babbles and hand gestures:

"I don't know why Grandma keeps counting "1,2,3,4" with her fingers over and over.  I show her my fingers and say "bah, bah".  But after "4", grandma says "all gone", and I know I have more fingers and two thumbs.  Same goes with "A, E, I, O, U".  Then she pinches my cheek.  I giggle, but don't know why I get a cheek pinch after "U".  I did have to giggle at Grandma dancing to Lady Gaga's 'Poker Face'.  Prior to this, I had only smiled at my parents, but Grandma's dancing definitely merited belly laughs.  I do appreciate her showing me the 'other' Rowyn in the mirror.  Every day she takes me to the big mirror so I can tell the 'other' Rowyn what's on my mind.  I can even kick the 'other' Rowyn or bump her forehead.  I started my daycare experience on Monday of this week.  For the first few days, I checked out everything in the place.  I did not sleep much.  I had not seen or heard other babies since the NICU.  It's noisier than home (my parent's keep the TV volume down and talk in whispers).  Now I've checked it out, I'm sleeping for short naps.  There is a cute boy, my age, named Jack, who giggled with me during a starfish demonstration yesterday.  Mrs. Gwen feeds me and changes my diaper, slightly different than my parents and grandma, so I have to stare at my caretaker for a few minutes to figure out who's in charge.  This was particularly confusing on Monday when Dad came to daycare in midday and on Tuesday when Mom and Grandma came.  At night I have been going for stroller rides around the neighborhood with Mom and Grandma.  I wish the sidewalks were smoother.  Sometimes I try to sleep, but then a big bump will jolt me awake.

We've been keeping busy this last month!  My parents took me downtown to some BBQ festival on the river, and some of their fun friends played with me and hugged me.  I even fell asleep in Ray-Ray's arms :)  I took my first trip to Target to get last-minute daycare items...I think I'm really gonna like that store!  I also had my first cookout in the backyard and wore my new dress grandma bought me for memorial day.

And finally...I went to the peditrician today!  I'm exactly 2' tall and 13.9 lbs :)  I loved looking in the mirror and checking myself out before the doctor came in - I'm so cute!  All other things are developing normally and coming along.  I was even brave during my shots and didn't cry...that much.

That's all for now...stay tuned.  I'll keep you posted...."
