All you need is love...

Rowyn is almost 3 months old!  However, size wise and developmentally, she's more in line with her actual due date of January 28, so long story short, she's almost 1 month!  It's confusing at times :)

Rowyn continues to gain weight, 8.4 lbs as of this weekend. She's becoming more alert and awake during the day, although she's still taking a couple good naps throughout the day.  She's sleeping about every 3 - 4 hours at night.  We've introduced some small toys to her and she's getting a little more interested in them.  She's taking between 3 - 3/12 oz. of milk each feeding, about every 3 - 4 hours.  The night time feedings are still tough, but hey, a girl's gotta eat!

Rowyn is getting better with her reflux, too.  She's having less "episodes" of spitting up out the mouth and nose, so we're not using the bulb syringe as much - good news!  She's getting better at keeping her feedings down...except when we take her in her stroller around the block.  These midtown streets are little bumpy and they cause her to spit up, usually in the middle of our walk, in the middle of the street.  Oh, Ro...

Being a parent is such an amazing journey.  People always tell you before you have kids that it's "the best", but you can't understand it until you expereince it for yourself.  We are truly in love with this little girl!  She brings us such joy and smiles every day :)

2 months already? Plus, family visits!

Greetings y'all!  Well, we've had another busy week with lots going on. Katie's mom visited from Ohio for 2 weeks, Rowyn had her two month check-up and Chris' mom and step dad visited last weekend!  Rowyn definitely got lots of good love from family :)

Grandma McDowell had a great time visiting.  She was the designated "Rowyn holder" when Katie had to get things done around the house!  It helped so much, plus gave grandma special time with her new grand-baby.  Grandma played with her, walked with her, rocked her, helped with her exercises and cuddled with her.  She also helped Katie change diapers, give Ro a bath and feed her bottles.  What a blessing moms can be!

Rowyn also had her two month check-up last week.  She's weighing in at 7 1/2 lbs and is about 20" long!  Getting bigger and stronger - that's what we like see.  Rowyn also got some of her vaccinations, as well as her RSV shot.  It was a bit of a hassle getting approved/not approved through insurance, but luckily, the pediatrician's office was able to give her the RSV shot just in time.  We go back this week for the other two shots.  We split them up because it would've been too many at once - those fat little legs can only take so much!

This past weekend, Chris' mom (granna) and step dad (papa) visited from Tuscaloosa.  They jumped right in and held her, rocked her, fed her and loved on her.  It's so great to see our parents finally get to hold little Ro!

Time is flying by.  Katie goes back to work in just two short weeks.  It's gonna be hard not to see this face all day...

Super "Stroll" Sunday

Today's the big day! No, I'm not talking about football, I'm talking about taking Rowyn out on her first stroll around the block. It was such a pretty day, we couldn't resist. It was a tad bit chilly (55), but after bundling Rowyn up, she didn't mind one bit. Actually, she slept pretty much the whole time. It was great for Katie to get out of the house too. It's been over a month since we brought her home, so they've been on "house arrest" since then (plus its been REALLY cold until today.)

Not much news otherwise. Ro is headed to the doctor tomorrow to get her 2 month shots as well as her RSV shot (hopefully....there's been a lot of confusion getting it covered by insurance. So hopefully we'll hear something ASAP.) I hope she tolerates the shots well. We'll get an official weight, but according to our home scale, she weighs about 6lb 8oz. So she's still growing steadily. She likes to eat!

Oh yeah. Rowyn had her first "big girl" bath this weekend. Up until now shed been getting baths out of a small plastic tub that the hospital sent home with us. She's gotten a little too big for that so we got to bathe her in her own tub. She kind of enjoyed it....at first. But before long she was crying up a storm. I think in the end, she enjoyed it.
